Pregnancy Testing

The first step in knowing if you are pregnant. If you’ve been sexually active and missed your period, you should take a pregnancy test. Pregnancy tests check your urine (pee) for a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG). Your body only makes this hormone if you’re pregnant. Pregnancy Confirmation by Ultrasound

If your pregnancy test is positive our nurse will determine if you are eligible to have an ultrasound exam to verify and gain more information about your pregnancy. Ultrasounds use sound waves to see inside the body. Ultrasounds at Choices are performed by registered ultrasound technicians and all scans are reviewed by medical doctors.

Ultrasound can determine how far along you are in your pregnancy, whether the pregnancy is located inside or outside of the uterus, and whether the pregnancy is viable or likely to continue. One out of four, or at least 20% of known pregnancies naturally end in miscarriage. This information is important and is helpful for whatever choice you are considering: Continuing with your pregnancy or abortion.
