Just for Students

In School? We Are Here For YOU!

Finding out you are pregnant as a student can be especially challenging.  Will you be able to stay in school, will you graduate, how do I tell my parents, can you keep your athletic scholarship?  Adding these questions to the stress that occurs with an unplanned pregnancy can make things feel very overwhelming.

Many students feel that they will have to drop out of school or miss out on a scholarship opportunity if they are pregnant. You have legal rights as a parenting or pregnant student. Check out your rights under Title IX Rights for Pregnant Students.

Regardless if you think you are pregnant, if you are sexually active, it is important that you get tested for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI’s) also called Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD’s.)

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), there are 20 million new sexually transmitted infections that occur in the United States each year.  Half of those infections occur in young adults and adolescents between the ages of 15-24.  Although symptoms can occur with infections, most people are asymptomatic meaning they have the infection without having symptoms.  Untreated STD’s can have an impact on your overall health, so testing is important.  At Choices, we offer cost-free, confidential STD testing and treatment for both guys and girls.

Being committed to healthy relationships is important to your health as well.  Sex is a big deal and it’s more than just physical.  Sex is a powerful, intimate act and a lot of times people get involved sexually before putting in the time to truly get to know one another.  The intense feelings from sex might make you stay in an unhealthy relationship longer than you should.  Also, teen dating violence is on the rise. Often the relationship starts off fine and as it progresses unhealthy warning signs are missed.  It is important that you know which behaviors are healthy in a relationship and which are not.  You deserve to be treated with respect in all of your relationships.

Choices will help you navigate the best decision for you.  Make an appointment today.  All of our confidential services are offered at no cost and we will not bill your insurance.

While Choices can provide you with all the necessary information regarding your options we do not provide referrals for or offer termination services.
